Since its 1991 inception in an old bus garage, Ministry of Sound has continually defied the odds. Most nightclubs struggle to stay open, but Ministry of Sound has not only survived, but thrived into an internationally known brand.
Of course, no business gets to that point by staying the same. Ministry of Sound has continually evolved and defended its place in the scene. It’s gone from a ’80s house to diversifying its music to beating back redevelopment attempts from its neighbors in Elephant & Castle to appearing before the London mayor to upgrading its already legendary sound system to adding a fitness class schedule (yep). It has been through those and other innovative and persistent efforts that Ministry of Sound has remained open in the same place for 25 years and counting.
Of course, if you’re looking to just work up an incidental sweat instead of an intentional one, definitely check out their regular Friday night party The Gallery. It’s become a must-go destination for any London resident or visitor’s party bucket list.
Whether you go for the fitness classes, the Friday night party, or an after-work drink and rave (that’s a thing right?), make some time to go to Ministry of Sound.
