For Dallas natives, Deep Ellum has been and up and coming neighborhood for around half a decade now. It’s definitely established itself as a hub for the live music scene, as well as local breweries. Beer and live music? There’s pretty much nothing this neighborhood needs to add, it’s already a little slice of nightlife heaven.
Did you go to SMU? TCU? Are you stuck in the uptown bar funk, or maybe you exclusively check out Katy Trail bars? I know, I know, Ice House is one of my favorites too.
It’s time to branch out. Here’s an introductory overview of Deep Ellum’s venues from underground speakeasies to techno clubs.
Trees
Trees has been around for two decades and is known as a Dallas staple. It’s on the larger end of the medium sized venues and is usually the place to see an artist on the cusp of stardom. Past bookings include Nirvana, so you know they’ve got great taste. The floor slopes slightly to give a good view of the stage even if you’re way in the back of the crowd.

Club DaDa
Club DaDa changed ownership in 2011 and with that came big changes. There’s now a back room bar, and a back patio outside bar as well. The space still has exposed brick walls and has been around for over two decades. The indoor space has a more intimate feel and has been lauded by Dallas residents as a ‘progressive venue’ to discover new bands.

The Bomb Factory
The Bomb Factory is not for a casual night out. The Bomb Factory is a music venue in which you know the artist you’re going to see, and they’re probably pretty large. The old WW2 warehouse was used originally to make bombs and has been renovated into a 4300 capacity music venue. Upcoming shows include big names like The Pixies and Sigur Ros.

RBC
RBC stands for Rhythm, Beats, Culture. They tout themseves as the “home for cultured music in Deep Ellum.” The venue is small and underground with standing room only behind Twisted Root burger. The small venue setting with up and coming acts presents a unique experience in the Dallas nightlife.
