Welcome to our Sober & Empty series. Explore your favorite venue, or maybe a new one, like you’ve never seen them before: sober and, well, empty.
After our in-depth introduction to MoMA PS1’s Warm Up series, there was only a matter of time before we gave you what you really wanted – a sober (and empty) look at the venue space.
In case you forgot, MoMA PS1’s Warm Up is every weekend of the summer, from 3 PM – 9 PM.
In a showcase for emerging musicians and artists, every year the courtyard is transformed by a different architect (the winner of Young Architects Program) into a site-specific installation. This year’s architect is Jenny Sabin, who has constructed a piece named “Lumen.”
If the concert and Saturday sun gets too overwhelming for you, MoMA is open to all to cool down and look at art indoors. M. Wells (the indoor cafe) offers food outside and specialty cocktails in their indoor space.
The space has two general outdoor areas: one with the stage and main area, and a smaller courtyard off to the side that sells wine and beer. The artist stage is elevated on the Museum’s sheltered patio, and offers clear sightlines throughout the venue.
