Small Font Big Future gives you a low-down on smaller artists you should definitely take the time to see when you’re stage hopping at the next festival.

I’ve told you before to get excited about MoMA PS1 2017 Warm Up Lineup. It’s a great way to kill two birds with one stone. A cross pollination of music, art, and drinking in the summer sun. While it may not be a festival (it takes place over successive Saturdays throughout the summer), it has no shortage of great artists, and we’re here to help you decipher which you really shouldn’t miss.

For the month of July, we’re stoked about seeing these artists perform in a courtyard with an installation that looks like it’s straight from Avatar.

VHVL

If you’ve seen any photos of the summer installation at night, you’ll know VHVL’s music goes hand in hand with the ambiance. It’s electronic, ethereal, and it’s got a beat with edge. Her bright, chiming melodies are the perfect summer soundtrack.

MikeQ

We got a chance to interview MikeQ (coming soon). He’s an office favorite. His genre is vogue/ballroom house. Do you have no idea what that is? That’s okay. Thump‘s got you covered.

Laurel Halo

Avant pop. Ambient electronic. Experimental synth pop. This is what I’d exactly expect from a MoMA Warm Up artist, yet somehow Laurel Halo makes music unlike any you’ve ever heard before (or ever will). It feels more like an out-of-body experience than listening to music, and for that reason alone, I dig it.

Wrecked

Ron Like Hell + Ryan Smith team up to make Wrecked, and they’re ready to take you on “an aural adventure.” It’s got a beat you can dance to.

Francois K

Okay, so Francois K might not be “small font” status. It doesn’t matter. With the title “Spaced-Out Techno Dub Dreamer,” he’s on the list for a reason.
