Often overlooked in favor of other hip hop meccas Los Angeles and New York, Philadelphia mostly flies under the radar as a birthplace of great hip hop music. While the quantity of rap coming out of the city might not be on par with other metros, Philly quality certainly holds its own. From gangsta rap originators like Schoolly D to more modern heads like Meek Mill, the city has a solid hip hop history spanning over 30 years.
