That’s right! You heard some new music last week, but this week has even newer music. Can you believe that? And you thought it was fresh then. This is now.

Big French – Stone Fish

One of the most interesting releases of the week is this experimental pop album from Big French. It almost feels more lo-fi than their first full-length, but purposely so, and super fun. Almost every song on the record hovers around 2 minutes and feels like just a taste of what’s to come. Favorite Tracks: Fly Like a Bird & Words Appear

Bamboo – The Dragon Flies Away

This album is based on the story of a demonic Hannya mask from Japanese Noh Theater, but don’t let that scare you. Overall, the record is upbeat and full of post-disco elements with vivid synths to get you moving. Favorite Tracks: Wake Up Your Heart & Always Running

Free Throw – Bear Your Mind

The pair of singers leading this emo band know what they’re doing. The sweet, mixed with the brash, is gonna make a lot of 90’s music lovers reminisce about the good ol’ days. Favorite Tracks: Rinse. Repeat. & Cal Ripken Jr. Johnson

Cende – #1 Hit Single

With members of Porches and LVL UP, you can hear similarities, but this 8 track album packs an original lo-fi garage rock punch. With a play time of only 22 minutes, they’re definitely making me want more, so if that was the plan, they’re killing it. Favorite Tracks: Good Crime & Don’t Want To

The Heliocentrics – A World of Masks

This album is like an experimental psychedelic tour through space with a mix of jazz, funk, and hip-hop throughout. With the newer addition of Slovakian vocalist Barbora Patkova, many of the songs will put you in a trance that you may not be able to get out of for the entire 45 minute record. Favorite Tracks: Oh Brother & The Wake

BONUS EPS:
Blowsom – Stand Out

This funky electro pop will get you dancing no matter where you start listening (just ask my co-workers). And while I’m only talking about the 5 track EP, go check out the video for Stand Out, it’s a fun tour through a purple and pink 80’s studio (which could describe the entire album). The album’s called Stand Out, the first song is called Stand Out, and my Favorite Track: Stand Out.

Axwell /\ Ingrosso – More Than You Know

The Swedish duo is back with a huge sophomore EP. You’re going to be unhappy about this one, not because it’s not good, because it’s only 4 tracks. From the title song, it’s just straight up hard-hitting party music. They tried something a lil’ different with the last track, Dawn, and it’ll take you on a 5:32 minute emotional journey. Favorite track: Dawn

BONUS SINGLE:
Fyfe – Closing Time

It’s closing time on this week’s NMF and this is the perfect conclusion. A heart-warming piano piece with Fyfe’s incredible voice haunting through the track. This one might make you re-evaluate your entire life… in the good way.
