Record Store Day 2017 is upon us, and there are four official RSD events that Miami-Dade residents can choose from if they want to partake in the festivities.

What’s Record Store Day? In the words of the fine folks who organize the event every year:

This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.

Recently opened to the public in late 2016, Brooklyn Vintage and Vinyl is aptly named for its wares. Visit their website or read about their November 2016 opening here.

Museo del Disco | Directions

Probably less well-known to our readers, Museo del Disco is known for its expansive Latin record collection, along with rows and racks of DVDs, telenovelas, and more. According to Crossfade:

“The selection is overwhelming and not just when it comes to Spanish-language genres. Although lacking in hip-hop, el Museo is well stocked in everything from classic and alternative rock to jazz. It’s not the spot for those looking to pick up highly collectible items though. You’ll only find newer vinyl, ranging in price from $5 to $20, as well as some nice, classic, old-school records.”

Sweat Records | Directions

Sweat Records’ slogan oughta be “believe the hype” because for as much love as locals put on this place, you’d think at least some of it was out of a bit of hometown loyalty. But the truth is that Sweat Records really is all it’s cracked up to be. I’m not supposed to have favorites, but …

Yesterday and Today Records | Directions

Yesterday and Today may be the smallest venue participating in Record Store Day, but it’s also a winner of the coveted “Best Record Store” award from Miami New Times (2012). Y&T has been a South Miami staple for the past 35 years as the population has exploded and the area urbanized around it, but it still retains a vintage Miami charisma (and vintage website).
