Project Pabst is a music festival created by Superfly and Pabst Brewing Company started in 2014. Since the launch in Portland, OR the festival has expanded across the country to Denver, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. 2017 marked its second year in Denver and it was an absolute success.
AEG came on board this year as the promoter with a strong line up consisting of Ice Cube, Phantogram, Kurt Vile, Danny Brown, and STRFKR to name a few. Sure the big headliners were the attraction, however several local bands were able to shine at Larimer Lounge and Meadowlark in the RiNo neighborhood. An if you were wondering, the Pabst’s Unicorn was not to be missed, located right in the middle of the festival.
There’s no doubt that the RiNo and Five Points neighborhoods are seeing rapid change in the community through gentrification. But seeing such a diverse crowd and line up at this festival only shows the strength and power in bringing people together through music.
Mission statement from Pabst – “Project Pabst offers a unique festival experience, incorporating music, art, hands-on interactive elements, as well as food and beer at reasonable “non-festival” prices. Festival goers will be entertained with the old school video games in the PBRcade, the PBR Vandalism interactive graffiti art display, and PBR Wax—an on-the-spot pressing of vinyl recordings that the fans create themselves. Additionally, a local artist from each city will be highlighted on a limited edition Project Pabst 16 oz. can.”
