Willamette Week reported back in July that the owners of Mississippi Studios are adding the North Star Ballroom to their growing group of music venues. In early 2018, they’ll be closing for a few months for renovations and reopening as Polaris Hall—the astrological term for the actual North Star.
The venue at 635 N. Killingsworth Ct., in Portland will keep its funky grandma’s house vibe but return the space to the vaulted ceiling that the building once had. On top of the renovations, the venue will also add about 30 live shows a year that they are unable to service at their other venues. Specifically, smaller, and/or more acoustic shows, as well as continued offerings for private and community events.
Mississippi Studios now has three venues and one of the best burger places around including, their namesake Mississippi studios, Revolution Hall, the soon to be renamed Polaris Hall, and Bar Bar for all of your snacking necessities beforehand.
North Star Ballroom is already a popular spot for weddings, small events, and community happenings, but don’t think that the new name will change any of that. It’ll just add some height to the ceiling and continue to cater to the community with a few more acoustic acts coming through the location.
Are you looking forward to the renovation? The new acts coming through? Or just the incredible news that they won’t be changing the space too much?
