The ever growing music scene in San Francisco just got a new addition to their roster.
Halcyon is run by local nightlife veteran Gina Milano, who has owned and operated several nightclubs and restaurants in the past two decades — among them, Le Club, Bambuddha Lounge, and Restaurant Maroc, just to name a few.
“It’s the type of space you can get lost in.” Gina Milano
What was once the Beatbox (a gay nightclub) space has been reimagined and transformed into an underground warehouse-style club with a 24 hour entertainment permit.
“Halcyon represents a true confluence of some of the earth’s best experiential artisans. It shifts as it tantalizes, evoking old memories and inspiring new ones – essentially living up to its name,” Milano adds. “It’s the type of space you can get lost in.”
Some of the early bookings at Halcyon featured underground techno acts like Dubfire, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Joseph Capriati and more. Other than being a nightclub, Milano mentions that she is also looking add a diverse array of daytime programming, ranging from yoga classes to corporate events, and a spectrum of artistically-inclined and culturally enriching events as well.
In an interview with Mixmag, Milano explained the immersive aspects of the space. “Our visuals team have fused the latest technology into bespoke light shows, utilizing cutting edge tools including a six-laser projection mapping system, pixel control super flat on the original industrial beams and moving light capabilities. Every show will be different, tailored to each individual act.”
But visuals aren’t all of it. As Pioneer Pro Audio’s flagship in the Bay Area, attendees can expect to experience the highest standard of audio experiences.
The raw, industrial ambience fills the room all the way up to the exposed brick walls and steel support beams, cultivating an authenticity that complements Milano’s mission for the space, devoid of pretense.
Because it’s no secret that if the vibe is right, the music sounds better.
