We’ve told you about a lot of free music events in the Bay Area before, but we’ve never told you about a festival that was free to attend and free to play until now. That’s right. San Francisco was home to the Uke-Splosion! this past weekend, and it wasn’t strictly for professionals.

That’s right, the festival wasn’t just a showcase in San Francisco’s foremost uke talent (spearheaded by ukulele youtube stars Ukulenny and Cynthia Lin), but also featured a strum along in which over 40 people brought their ukuleles to play and sing along.

The event took place outdoors at Yerba Buena Gardens and is part of the park’s Weekend Sessions. For the full summer schedule, visit their website.
