The historic Scoot Inn has been a well known musical landmark in Austin for a while. Within the past decade, it’s been the hotbed for metal, underground punk, and rock music.
However, the venue derives its recent notoriety from an incident in 2014, when Tyler, the Creator was arrested on charges of inciting a riot during SXSW because he encouraged fans to rush the venue from outside.
Nevertheless, the Scoot Inn is known as one of the best both indoor and outdoor venues in Austin, with clear sight lines to the stage and no hindered views. It was previously owned by Doug Guller, who’s other holdings under the name ATX Brands “include the breastaurant chain Bikinis and Sixth Street hot spot the Parish” according to The Austin Chronicle.
Under recently completed agreement though, the ownership will transfer to C3 Presents, the concert promotion company which is known locally for Austin City Limits. They have been owned by Live Nation since 2014 and have had previous experience booking Scoot Inn’s large, 1,000-cap outdoor space.
