Ah, the curse of the city, so many things to do within arm’s reach, but it’s all more expensive than in the suburbs and country. Of course, that means that in order to live your best life, you need to be economical and work on a budget. For music lovers, that means finding cheap concerts.

Going out to concerts is an expensive prospect. It doesn’t have to be though! All it takes is a little know-how and the right mind set to get yourself to as many cheap concerts as you want at a price that’s right for you.

See artists before they get big

This may seem like one of those “easier said than done” things, and you’d be right. However, music discovery also isn’t as hard as you’d think either. There are strategies you can take that go beyond listening to your “Discovery Weekly” playlist on Spotify, like utilizing internet radio.

Or you can just see what’s in town and take a chance after listening to a couple of songs. You might find you get addicted to the thrill of seeing a big artist live back when they only had 100 likes on Facebook.

Find the right venues for cheap concerts

If you’re going to see shows at big stadium venues like CenturyLink Field or KeyArena and you’re getting on ticket sites desperately trying to beat the ticket bots for a show six months away, you’re not going to save any money and you might not end up having a great time anyways.

The live experience at your local venues is more intimate and it’s an easier time getting tickets. Plus, you can decide if you’re in the mood to see a show tonight, as opposed to figuring out if you’ll be in the mood a few months down the line.

Bring your friends

Sure, you can’t split tickets with your friends, but there are plenty of other things you can do more efficiently. There’s a whole bunch of things involved in the concert going experience. Want that giant plate of nachos before a show? Go halfsies. Need to get home in a cab? Split it. Gin buckets? Well, I won’t judge.

Deal hunting

There are always good deals to be had, you just have to hunt for them. Here’s a good place to start… literally, here. You’re on Jukely’s blog. Jukely, the app where you can go to concerts for $25/month. It’ll help with discovering new artists and new venues, it can even make bringing friends more efficient (our +1 membership is cheaper than two memberships).
