5 Toronto craft beer breweries to hit up immediately

Q: After the 2017 Ontario Craft Beer Week in early June finished, what’s a craft beer drinker supposed to do?

A: Continue supporting local breweries!

Porter? Stout? Sour? IPA? Wheat? It doesn’t matter, Toronto’s got you covered. Check out the five local breweries below in no particular order.

1. Bellwoods Brewery

   

   Since 2012, Bellwoods has been making some incredible beers. Need proof? Last year they opened up a second location about 25 minutes north. One of the most interesting parts about some of their farmhouse and wild ales is that they’re utilizing a yeast strain called Brettanomyces and bacteria for truly original flavors.

2. Left Field Brewery

   

   Brewing 17 different types of beers, everyone is sure to find something at this place that they’ll be interested in, even if baseball isn’t their sport of choice. This place started with a husband and wife hobby brewing and now has 18 employees and Wrigley, “The Head of Security,” and noted Bassett Hound.

3. Rainhard Brewing

   

   In 2016 alone, they won two gold medals and two silver medals in brewing. If you’re looking for a place to have a few local beers right in the thick of it — the bar is literally in the heart of the brewhouse — surrounded by where the beer you’re drinking is made and aged, this is your place.

4. Blood Brothers Brewing

   

   The tap room is open! After starting up in 2015, this family-owned craft brewery has been making an interesting mix of beers. Using everything from grape juice to the Japanese fruit yuzu to rosemary, you’ll be intrigued if nothing else! If you’re looking for a tart or a pale ale, you’ll find it here.

5. Mascot Brewery

   

   First and foremost, if you’re looking for a place to hang before a show, or just a place to relax on a sweet rooftop beer garden, this is it. You’ll notice the perfect mix of hipster, bro, and local workers ending the day in the sun (while sipping on both Mascot and other locally brewed beers).
