After two successful singles earlier this year, over 17 million streams, and plays on BBC1’s Diplo & Friends, Rusty Hook has finally released his debut EP Romance Is Dead, Good Riddance on Moving Castle.
Rusty Hook showcases his wide range of sound with this EP, demonstrating his growth with each song as the creation and songwriting took place over several years. Composed of five songs with accents ranging from R&B to soul to bass, the EP is one you’ll be sure to have on repeat.
His inspiration for the EP is strongly emotional:
This EP is the first project that I wrote as a group of ideas. They’re all songs that I worked on between 2015 and 2017, and with those ideas in mind, I wanted something that could be a blend of electronic music, alternative rock, and dark hip hop. All in all, I wanted to create music that leaves a strong emotional imprint and really makes you feel things. The five tracks are references to particular periods of my life. It’s one of the most intimate projects I’ve ever made and I love that it’s a representation of my evolution in for the last two years.
With support of artist tastemakers Skrillex, Madeon, What So Not, and more, it’s no surprise his EP is already a hit.
