Louis Futon is not ready to stop any time soon. Following the 2016 smash hit Wasted On You, his newest single “Surreal” slows it down for a sultry R&B inspired pop song. This collaboration with RKCB is one to keep in your “late night” playlist. Having toured with Odesza and Big Gigantic, Louis Futon is ready to go on his newly announced headline spring tour!
Four Over Four got a chance to speak with Louis Futon before his tour.
Tell us a bit about the Philly music scene and how it has shaped your career?
Philly music means a lot to me. I was in and out of bands my entire life and the amount of support that artists show each other is incredible. I ultimately would like to give back and create a culture similar to what Chance has in Chicago and really unite the community.
Most memorable concert experience?
The Backstreet Boys flying on to the stage hung by wires. Saw them when I was probably eight years old, still the most lit concert I’ve ever been to.
In 2015, you tweeted that Ishkabibble’s has the best cheese steak and then in 2016, Woodrow’s Sandwich Shop. Who’s the best in 2017?
Woodrow’s was the new kid on the block in 2016 and they still hold the crown. It’s going to be hard to beat them.
Owner of Woodrow’s Sandwich Shop Kevin Kramer
How did the collaboration come together with RKCB on your newest single “Surreal?”
I heard their music through a friend and immediately reached out to them to work on something. “Surreal” happened over the internet through a bunch of Skype sessions, but since then we’ve been making a bunch of tunes together in the studio.
What song or album do you have on repeat at the moment, and why?
Lewis Del Mar’s self titled album. It’s a masterpiece. It’s the most refreshing sound i’ve heard in the past five years.
Do you have any acts you’ve always wanted to work with (dead or alive)?
James Brown.
What can your fans expect in 2017 and any last statements?
They can expect to get their expectations shattered. Everything i’ve been doing is vastly different than anything I’ve ever done before. It’s hard for me to hold in my excitement, 2017 is going to be awesome.
